Distillation is a process used widely in the laboratory or in wider working environments for separating or purifying liquids or liquid mixtures based on the different boiling points of individual components.
Distillation Applications:
• Separation and purification of miscible liquid mixtures in organic chemistry
• Drying of solid residues and/or solvent removal
• Fractional distillation of liquids from polymers and petroleum products
• Removal of particulates or other solid contaminants
• As part of a water purification system for production of distilled water for laboratory use
• Specialist steam distillation-based applications such as Kjeldahl analysis of nitrogen and proteins in food, beverage, or environmental samples
What Types of Distillation Equipment Are Available?
Conventional distillation apparatus, typically comprising individual, jointed borosilicate glassware components assembled by the user (depending upon the application), using appropriate clamps, stands, and supports. Most conventional distillation assemblies combine a round-bottomed distilling flask to contain and heat the liquid(s) that require purification, fitted with a stoppered or jointed neck to which is attached a downward-sloping, inclined side-arm for connection to a condensing unit to cool the heated vapors back down to their liquid state. Heating mantles are the preferred heat source for improved temperature control. These conventional distillation units are also available supplied complete and ready-assembled for added convenience and ease of use.
Specialized automated distillation equipment, notably units designed for the determination of volatile acidity and alcoholic strength by volume in wines, musts, and alcoholic beverages, and units designed for Kjeldahl nitrogen or protein determinations.

1000mL Reaction Vessel, Jacketed, 100mm Schott O-Ring Flange, GL-14 Inlet/Outlet, CG-911-A-10 Drain Valve. Similar to CG1924, but with our CG911A 0-14mm sidearm valve. All valves are designed to seal flush with the bottom of the flask avoiding the dead space normally associated with stopcock drains. This feature permits total mixing & draining of the contents of the reactor. The CG510 is recommended for solution based reactions while the CG911A and CG511 are recommended for reactions containing solids. Reaction vessel is constructed with a flange having a groove formed in the sealing surface of the flange. Flange is also ground to permit a greased seal with any lids CG1940 through CG1946. Supplied complete with two polypropylene hose connections and two screw caps(Polypropylene hose connections with a Viton rubber seal for working temperatures up to max +110¿C.) 50mL Peptide Synthesis Vessel, Solid Phase, T-Bore PTFE Stpk, Vacuum, Coarse Frit, GL 25 Thread. Similar to CG-1864, but with the addition of a lower standard taper inner joint to allow collection into a vessel having a 24/40 outer joint. COARSE porosity fritted glass resin support. A serrated hose connection is sealed on the inner joint for connection to a vacuum source. The “T”-Bore stopcock has an 8mm O.D. sidearm for connection to nitrogen, while the serrated hose connection has an O.D. of 8mm at the middle ring.

Vacuum Trap, Dual Chamber, Complete. Dual chamber vacuum trap affords increased condensing capacity in a much shorter length. The dry ice cold fingers have 55/50 inner joints that fit into the outer joints on the main trap body and have a capacity of approx. 300mL each. Lower stopcock is a PTFE 4mm ¿T¿-bore which permits draining condensate chambers one at a time. Serrated connections at the top of the condensate chambers have an O.D. of 10mm. Complete trap assembly is approx. 545mm in height x 220mm wide.

Distillation Vessel, 250mL, Receiving, Cylindrical, 70mm OD, ChemRxnHub, Compatible with CG-1947-A60. Cylindrical shaped distillation receiving vessel for use with ChemRxnHub benchtop systems for collecting distillate. The top of the vessel has two 0-8 Chem-cap valves with 1/2¿ OD Swagelock side arms that offer a convenient way to connect the receiver to CG-1975 PTFE tubing and compression fittings. Bottom of vessel has 0-14 drain valve with a 1/2¿ OD swagelock sidearm. The body of vessel has approximate volume graduations on the front and back. Vessel body diameter is compatible with CG-1947-A clamps which provide an easy way to support the receiver on the frame or hood lattice.
